On December 2, 2016, 36 people attending an electronic music show lost their lives in a fire in a live-work warehouse known locally as the Ghost Ship. The building was not permitted for residential or entertainment uses but was nevertheless home and sanctuary to many artists who are struggling with the prohibitively high cost of living in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
As an organization dedicated to the development of affordable and sustainable housing as well as access to the arts, we are compelled to act. This devastating loss must serve as a catalyst for change.
